Antarctic Mountaineering
Damien Gildea
Incredible stuff here: images from some of the interior mountain ranges of Antarctica. This collection of photographs was taken by Antarctic guide and historian Damien Gildea from his adventures on the loneliest, coldest lands on Earth. Beyond the jagged, imposing appearance of the mountains themselves, it’s remarkable to look out into the distance at the flat icelands off into the distance. One can only imagine how many stormy, cloudy days were endured for these sunlit photographs.

Damien Gildea is a mountaineer, geographer, and scholar of Antarctic landscapes. In his two decades of Antarctic adventuring, he has skied to the South Pole, measured summit altitudes with modern GPS units, and compiled a reference of Antarctic mountain exploration.
