The Fine Print

Tasmanian Geographic is independent of any other magazine, society, or business. We are devoted to testing the win-win hypothesis.

  • Readers win: Tasmanian Geographic is a freely available publication offering exploration, enthusiasm, knowledge, skills, and new perspectives. We encourage you to contribute, discuss, and share the content from our magazine.
  • Contributors win: a forum for sharing their passions, adventures, expertise, and artwork. Get in touch, get published — see our Guidelines.
  • Tassie wins: we showcase the island in an informative, educational, and attractive way.

Our business model stems from this win-win-win philosophy. Tasmanian Geographic is a collaborative magazine written by a group of individuals. This publication sustains itself via a variety of methods, including advertising, sponsorship, and paid insertions.

The compensation received will never influence the content, topics, or posts made in Tasmanian Geographic. Advertising and sponsored materials will be clearly labelled as such.

If you have any concerns about the material we publish, please contact us via email.

The views and opinions expressed here are entirely those of the authors, and not necessarily TG, the editors, or any others. Please conduct all discussion and comment in a respectful and diplomatic manner.

We do our best, with limited resources, to conduct fact-checking followups, and request that authors retain a record of their research and journalism sources. If we claim expertise on a certain subject, we will only endorse goods or services that we judge are worthy of such endorsement. Any claim, statistic, quote or other representation about a product or service should be verified with the manufacturer or provider.

We endeavour to keep photographic image metadata connected to the image itself. A photo-illustrated magazine in the era of "share", "pin", and "repost" must deal with new challenges. We try to connect copyright info to images by the use of unobtrusive captioning and watermarking. Automatic thumbnail previewing of external sites may post images to our site or social networks; we are not implying ownership of these images.

If you would like to contribute articles for the magazine, images for our photostream, or any media for publication, please visit the Guidelines page.

If you have concerns about your personal information online, see our separate Privacy Policy.

Some content on this site may feature activities that are dangerous, difficult, or restricted-access. Publication of this content is in no way a suggestion or endorsement that the reader (or the authors!) should conduct these activities. If you are interested in climbing, caving, bushwalking, paddling, or other adventures, we can suggest several excellent guiding companies.
