Rodway’s “Some Wildflowers of Tasmania”
The Tasmanian Government Botanist Leonard Rodway’s 1922 writings on the wildflowers of Tasmania – with excellent illustrations from photographs by Olive Barnard – are now available online on the Internet Archive. They’re a great resource for learning about some of our notable plants, and he’s included some ferns and non-flowering plants for good measure. It’s not exactly a technical taxonomy, and it’s not exactly a work depending on artistic prose, but something that calls on both of these branches.
You can see our selected captures and the embedded book itself below, and download it yourself on the Internet Archive. It’s a scanned copy from the University of California – take a look at the intervals when it was checked out of the library: 1950, 1968, 1989. Perhaps not as well appreciated a body of work as it will be by readers here in Tasmania.
